The place of a burn, a cut, a postoperative scar cause psychological discomfort. A great solution to the problem are tattoos on the scars. With the right approach and execution, they make the defect on the skin almost invisible.

How effective are tattoos on scars

Whether a bright tattoo on the scars on the hand can overlap the defect depends on what type the defect belongs to. Dermatologists distinguish:

  • Atrophic scars. They are formed in the place of the stitches. Most often, tattoos on the scars on the stomach try to cover exactly them. Our masters do not introduce pigment into the scar - the cell density here is much higher and the picture will turn out sloppy. Save the situation visual effects and contrasts - tattoos on the scar on the stomach can look three-dimensional.
  • Normotrophic. They are formed not the place of burns and superficial cuts. Tattoo on the appendicitis scar of this type is much easier to do. At the same time, masters do not recommend choosing monochrome - the color of the pigment can change.
  • Hypertrophic and keloid. Many survivors of complex surgeries seek to order tattoos on breast scars that protrude above the surface of the skin. In this case, bodily modifications can be harmful to health.

Before doing tattoos on scars on the arm and other parts of the body, it is strongly recommended to consult a doctor.

A photo of a bright tattoo under the skin at a burn site has sparked fierce controversy online (2 photos)

Last week, a photo of a hand with a tattoo where the skin is damaged by a minor burn in the kitchen sparked a heated debate on the social networking site Reddit. The reason for this was the fact that the skin was exposed at the burn site, and the tattoo that was revealed was so vivid, it looked like it had just been inked. The photo posted by user uhmodijia on social network Reddit says it is the hand of a "friend of a friend" who just received a minor burn that only damaged the top layer of his skin, exposing the dermis. A while ago, a blue rose had been tattooed on her skin, and like all tattoos, it had begun to fade. However, a section of burned skin that had peeled off due to the burn showed a much brighter copy of the same tattoo. Apparently, tattoos penetrate deep into the skin, and although they begin to fade in the first skin layer only a few months after application, they remain bright under the protective skin layer.

However, not everyone has bought into this theory. Many Reddit users argue that this photo is just photoshopped, noting that the burn itself looks unnatural and that the white tattoo pigment usually disappears first and doesn't go as deep into the skin. Frankly, this tattoo looks suspiciously bright, but that doesn't mean it's fake. In fact, there is scientific evidence that tattoos on the dermis are much brighter than those we see on the top layer of skin.

"It's actually super cool and not photoshopped at all, because our bodies are capable of very strange things," commented Reddit user, cowsarehotterthanyou, on the photo. - Similar things happen to the dead. Whenever a human body is sufficiently decomposed, what is known as skin slippage occurs. This means that the top layer is exposed. When you get a tattoo, the pigment is knocked into the dermis underneath the first layer. If a burn, death and decay, or something similar happens, the top layer of skin comes off, exposing the beautiful tattoo!"

The same Reddit user also links to an Instagram post by pathologist Nicole Angemi, who two years ago posted a photo of her husband's tattooed arm showing the same striking tattoo on his dermis. He, too, suffered a burn, revealing a vivid image on a deeper layer of skin.

"My husband, user @ange_261, recently got a pretty big 2nd degree burn on his arm," Angemi explained in her Instagram post. - The burn removed the top layer or layer of epidermis of the skin, and now you can see the actual tattoo applied to the dermis. You can see in this photo that the color of our skin is due to the epidermis, this particular layer of his skin is olive like the Italians. The dermis that is affected is not pigmented, so if your skin color is black, white or olive, the dermis is always pale pink. Unless you have a tattoo!!! People with tattoos have the brightest dermis because it has pigment in it! If only we could walk around without epidermis and show off those bright tattoos!!!!"

The folks over at Screenprint couldn't stay away from the controversy surrounding the viral Reddit photo, but their explanation is too scientific, so you'll explore it for yourself. The point is that while we cannot rule out the possibility that the photograph is genuine, in fact, there is more than enough evidence to argue otherwise.

One thing is for sure: you would hardly want to burn off the top layer of your skin to "enhance" a pale tattoo. It's painful and will make you vulnerable to dangerous infections. So it's better to call your handyman to just have your tattoo tweaked.

Tattoo after surgery

Tattoo after appendicitis

Quality overlapping of scars with a tattoo allows you to get rid of psychological discomfort. It is important to understand that not every defect can be leveled out that way right away. Doing a tattoo after surgery before the tissues are scarred is impossible! It is necessary to trace the dynamics up to full recovery.

Overlapping scars tattoos on the arm using complex designs and two or three shades is especially popular. Depending on the depth of the scars, it is possible to cover marks from stitched cuts, bites, and surgery. It is important to have the attending physician examine the scar and approve the overlapping of the scars.

Tattoos on burns

Tattooing on burns is only done when the tissue is scarred. This will reduce the risk of health deterioration and allow for proper design. As a rule, a tattoo on a burn scar is done in the form of a butterfly, Celtic ornament or abstraction. When choosing a sketch, pay attention to complex compositions.

Our masters use three or more shades to apply tattoos over burn scars. Blackwork and other laconic techniques can look sloppy. If the skin is unevenly scarred and the deeper layers of the epidermis are affected, consult a doctor beforehand.

How to take care of a tattoo and how long does it heal?

Speed of healing and degree of pigment healing depends on compliance with rules of care.

  1. Immediately after the procedure, the drawing is treated by the master and covered with a film.
  2. The closed area must not be wet or opened for the first 24 hours.
  3. On the second day, you can take a shower, gently washing the wound with antibacterial soap. Do not rub!
  4. Apply wound-healing cream.
  5. Avoid contact with clothing, there should be no friction.
  6. Hide the fresh wound from sunlight before going outdoors.
  7. Do not rip off the crust, it will come off naturally.

Scar tattoos take up to 2 weeks to heal due to low subcutaneous fat content (and if a vein is involved). Breasts, abdomen, shoulders, and buttocks are the fastest to heal. Large pictures are applied in several stages, rehabilitation can last up to a month.

Description

First of all, it is worth considering the mechanism of the scar itself. The upper and sometimes deeper tissues in the process of thermal trauma are destroyed, die off. This happens in any case, but the amount depends on the severity of the damage. Thus, the upper epithelium is quite easily renewed, so traces, for example, sun exposure in 99% of cases are not noticeable at all. However, people and do not do tattoos on burns of this kind. A completely different situation when it comes to fatty tissues, muscle, cartilage, etc. Such injuries in the process, more often than not, are accompanied by obvious necrosis, inflammation, possibly the formation of a purulent exudate. With this kind of symptomatology during the recovery period, the body cannot recreate the skin in its original form, it can be noticed by the smoother texture. The tissue from which the scar is formed is connective, it is found in our body in so many places, but its appearance on the outside brings with it pathological changes in the skin.

In most episodes, with the help of a burn tattoo it is possible to hide the defects, but not always. There are situations where tattooing can cause serious complications (inflammation, bleeding, infection). Scars fall into several categories, the main ones will be discussed below.
