How to draw a rose step by step

Follow the red lines in each drawing to know what to draw in the next step. The lines drawn in the last step are shown in gray.

1.

For the stems, you need to draw two wavy diagonal lines crossing each other.

Mark out a simple geometric shapes in the places where there will be buds and leaves.

2.

Begin to give the shape of the petals. Use wavy lines to depict the curving petals. Complete the stems by drawing two more intersecting lines.

3.

To make the leaves more realistic, make jagged lines. Also draw a curving line through the middle of each leaf. Add a second line to each leaf stalk. Along each stalk, add small, curving thorns.

4.

Finish drawing the petals by adding more lines to connect the lines that already exist. Make the edges of the petals more varied by adding small dots and curves. Also add more veins to the leaves by drawing curved lines from the main vein to the edge.

5.

You can color with colored pencils, paints or felt-tip pens, or you can simply add shadows and pen shadows with a simple pencil. The shadows should be where the leaves and petals curve.
